About #WeAreCanadaToo
#WeAreCanadaToo is a hashtag created by The Heather Cutler Foundation to promote awareness of critical gaps in pancreatic cancer care across Canada. It serves as a strategic anchor for the key messages outlined in the foundation’s formal petition efforts, including the Change.org campaign and Petition e-5186, submitted to the House of Commons in November 2024. The hashtag highlights barriers to accessing molecular profiling, treatment, and clinical trial access between provinces, with a focus on the absence of precision medicine-focused trials outside of Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Building on its digital advocacy efforts, the foundation will pivot to its first in-person event in it's home province of Newfoundland and Labrador in March 2025, focused on public engagement and street-level conversations to build awareness and support for these key issues. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to connect with Canadians directly and strengthen the growing call among Canada's national pancreatic cancer organizations for systemic change, including the establishment of national guidelines for pancreatic cancer care and expanded frameworks for remote clinical trial participation.
